When is a bin not a bin?

When your toddler starts using the bin to deposit random household items, such as the wooden spoon or our digital camera.
Who knows what else she may have deposited undetected…?
I never anticipated having to put child-proof latches on the bin but given Maisie’s latest tendencies, it may be a wise thing to do. However that’ll mean we can’t send Maisie off to put real rubbish in the bin when we have our hands full changing Tali’s nappy (or are too lazy to get up off the couch).

000

Tali is finally fitting into her 000 clothes – which is a good thing because she has some cute outfits that it will be too hot for soon. Maisie and her are getting along great – Maisie likes to be involved in everything that Tali does, which makes for interesting times.
Matilda and Ebony came over on the weekend and had a great time playing with both of the girls. Here are the latest photos.

The Dundies

Okay – so Cade and I have a few tv shows that we enjoy watching together (Sopranos, Survivor, The Amazing Race, Arrested Development and The Office) but apart from those listed, we have very different tastes in tv/movie watching.
Because we had some cheap video vouchers, we thought we might take a look at the American series of The Office with Steve Carell. I wasnt a fan of the first episode that we saw on TV a while ago (only because they basically used the full script of the BBC version) but we were both keen to take another look at it. The video store that we went to only had series 2 available at the time, so we got that out and have watched it over the past week.
Some episodes are quite slow and you only get a couple of laughs – but there are some awesome moments intertwined along the way. Cade fell off the couch laughing twice last night, which I see as a positive review for the show.
Pbly the best moments of the season were:
1. Dwight crashing his car on his way to “save Michael”
2. Michaels improv class, especially when he has his guns taken away.
3. When the I.T guy arrives at the office

Happy tree-changer on the radio

I was interviewed for 1502 2BS Gold radio this afternoon. Being a regional radio station, they wanted to get my perspective on the challenges and opportunities in moving from a capital city to a regional centre.
A colleague from work arranged the interview as a follow-up to a media release she distributed that talks about the appeal of working for CSU – how CSU campus locations offer the best of city living with the benefits of a regional lifestyle.
The interview was short, but I think it went well. It may even be airing as I type this. The conclusion that my interviewer drew, and with which I agree, is that I’m a happy tree-changer.

How to tune your TV…

In 4 easy steps.
Step 1. Give up in frustration trying to find the auto tune button on your TV remote control.
Step 2. Give your toddler the remote control to play with.
Step 3. Turn your back for a minute to do something else.
Step 4. Turn back around when you hear the TV tuned in correctly.
I can’t guarantee it’ll work for you, but it sure worked for me. And I still can’t find what button Maisie pressed – but whatever button she pressed was surely the right one.

the end

Our house in Sydney settled last week, so now it is the Li’s house in Lorraine St. Its a very weird feeling knowing that we will never go into that house again, after all the work that we put into it to make it “ours”. I also have this weird feeling that I have left something behind, but I have no idea what it would or could be…
Maisie and I went shopping today and I bought something that I have been wanting for quite a while now – a sunbeam mix master. I have never even owned a pair of electric beaters – so I am very excited about all the new things that I can make. Maisie was also excited and decided that the bowl would be good for a hat.

things we have forgotten about a newborn baby #3

They require constant attention and need to be fed all the time.
They keep you awake at night.
They cry scream really loud.
They don’t understand a word that you say to them.
You love them so much, that even when you are tired and grumpy from being up all night, all you want to do is smother them in kisses and cuddles and you can actually miss them when they are finally asleep in their own beds…

Lake to Lagoon

Update: Placed 14th.
A great event. I ran well enough, just under 37mins. I’ll find out my place later in the week, but definitely top-20, out of 1300 or so runners. My cheer squad did a good job of encouraging me towards the end. I still can’t believe it’s a free event. Found myself in a couple of the group photos in the local paper. And it was good to run against some familiar faces from the Wagga Road Runners.

WOWs night of B’s

We have just got home from our first Bonfire/BBQ/bush dance night. Maisie had such a great time doing the bush dancing that it was a bit sad that we had to leave when we did. She was squealing with delight the whole time and clapped along with the other kids. We also got to cook damper twists on the fire which were delish.

Its a nice feeling to have been out somewhere for the late afternoon/early evening and now be home in our PJs with both girls asleep in time to sit down and watch some tv (which will be some code of football) and its only 8:20pm… I must be getting old…

Family fun times

Last night the girls had a great time with 8 of their cousins here in Wagga for dinner. (they only have 10 cousins all up, so this was a big event!) Moo was so excited that she was still screaming with joy for most of the car trip back to our house. Tali was cuddled up by her Aunts and oldest cousins and she seemed to enjoy all the attention.
Whilst the camera was out of the bag, I grabbed some other photos of the girls. Tali is starting to improve after her week 6 struggle – she doesnt look like such a crusty head now. Moo has had a busy week with a trip to the Library for story time, lunch with some new friends and a new bible study group with a bunch of new kids to chase around after.

Weekend of Fun

Well, we had another very busy weekend here with plenty of fun had by all.
Saturday was filled with:
Morning Tea with Luke, Liz, Henry & Maya McPherson at their house.
Cade had a race with the Wagga Wagga Road Runners.
Dinner and sleepover with Matilda & Ebony.
Sleepover fun

On Sunday we packed the car and went to Church and then headed off for our first trip to Albury with Tali. It was a very short trip, mainly to catch up with Grandparents.

The drive to Albury is fantastic to do – takes about 1.5 hours which is great. The girls both went great in the car, we timed both trips around nap times which helped! Maisie showed everyone her new tricks and also had a fun swim at the pool with her Great Grandma Mary whilst Nanny Jill looked after Tali. Its great to be so close and the trip being so easy, Im sure we will be back and forth more than what I thought!
Next weekend is looking just as busy, with the Farmers Markets on Saturday morning, a bonfire in the evening and then the Lake to Lagoon fun run on Sunday.. and I thought our lives would slow down when we got here!
